Blue Crab Trap Rental (24-Hour)

Catch Blue Crabs Around The St. Pete Area

Try catching your own blue crabs with a Blue Crab Trap rental from Sunshine City Outfitters. Based in St. Pete, FL, we offer local rental gear for your next crabbing outing around St. Petersburg, Madeira Beach, and nearby Tampa Bay waters where trapping is permitted.

Rental Details

• Rental price: $17 for a 24-hour rental.
• Included: One crab trap intended for catching blue crabs, with rope for tying off.
• Bait is not supplied. Bring your own bait; cut mullet or chicken necks are suggested options.
• Local rental: Email or text us to confirm dates, availability, and pickup arrangements before paying.

Catch results vary with bait, location, tides, weather, and conditions. A stone crab may also enter the trap, but this rental is intended for blue crabs. Do not assume an incidental catch can be kept; review FWC's separate stone crab rules before retaining any stone crab claws.

Fishing License & Trap Registration

A Florida recreational saltwater fishing license is generally required to harvest blue crabs unless an exemption applies. Recreational users age 16 and older must also complete FWC's no-cost recreational blue crab trap registration before using blue crab traps, even if normally exempt from needing a fishing license. Required trap identification and markings must be in place before use.

Review current rules for trap construction and markings, permitted locations, closures, harvest limits, and protected crabs before your trip. Rental does not include a fishing license or personal trap registration.
